Solo Home Dog Boarding in South East Wales
Solo home dog boarding in South East Wales — the most trusted alternative to kennels.
Based in Newport, Poochee Care provides licensed, ethical, one-family-at-a-time home boarding, so your dog can keep a calm routine without being mixed with unfamiliar dogs. We know how stressful it can feel to leave them, so we prioritise reassurance, safety, and a meet-and-greet first to make sure it’s the perfect fit.
Areas we serve across South East Wales: Cardiff • Newport • Monmouth • Chepstow • Abergavenny • Pontypool • Caerleon (and surrounding areas)
We recognise how difficult, stressful, and overwhelming it can be to leave your dog when you go away.
From our experience, we know how hard it can be to find someone credible, experienced, and highly trained who adheres to all legislation.
There is a lot to consider when deciding who to trust with your dog, and you will probably have lots of questions. It is great that you do.
We are more than happy to answer your questions and offer the reassurance you and your dog need.
Which areas do you cover for solo dog boarding?
With dog boarding, because you bring your dog to us, we can look after dogs from any area – we have looked after dogs from Cardiff, Newport, Pontypool, Caerleon, Monmouth, Chepstow, Abergavenny and the surrounding areas.
What is solo dog boarding?
At Poochee Care, dog boarding means welcoming your dog or your dog family into our home for the duration of your holiday.
Leaving a dog in kennels can be very stressful for both the dog and the owner, so instead, many people choose to bring their dog straight from their home to ours.
This is one of the most sought-after solutions for pet owners when deciding who will care for their dog or dogs in their absence.
In order to make sure your pet is comfortable, we only offer solo boarding, which means we care exclusively for one family’s dog or dogs at a time.
The benefits of dog boarding
- Your dog moves from your loving home to ours, which means they will have an easier time settling in and are more relaxed and happy.
- They continue to spend all of their days away from you with someone you both trust, and they receive constant reassurance, attention, and love. This eases their feelings of separation from you and means they feel safe and secure.
- Your dog does not have to share resources, whether that’s space, food, attention, or love. They are the top dog in our home, which means they are happier and more relaxed.
- They can continue to follow their usual routine including when they walk, eat, sleep, and play.
- They do not have to get used to being around new dogs; this creates a stress-free, quiet experience. We find this makes it easier for the dogs we care for to settle in.

How do we ensure your dog will settle with us?
To ensure we provide the highest standard of care, we meet and get to know you and your dog before you go away.
Every dog is different; some will need to meet us more than once before they are comfortable. Our customers tell us these meetings help them feel happier and much more confident about leaving their dogs when they do finally go away.
The benefit of our five years of experience is that we can tell if your pet will settle and be happy in our care. We value your pet’s welfare over money and would never agree to care for your pet unless we could assure you they will be happy.
What experience do we have?
Since Poochee Care began in 2018, we have cared for dogs, cats, and many other small animals. Combining our training and experience means we can proudly tell you that we have never boarded a distressed dog or waved off an anxious owner.
We are also proud to say we have won awards in several categories for the consistent care we have given to every dog, cat, rabbit, and mouse we have cared for over the years.

Here are some wonderful testimonials and you can find many more on Google Reviews.
I am so thankful to have found Alyson of Poochee Care to take care of our boys while we are away. It really is a home from home bespoke service with regular photos, videos and updates we felt at ease knowing they were happy and content.
However, I did expect a better reaction when I arrived to pick them up, but it just proved to me that they had felt at home and so comfortable with the care they had received. I wouldn’t leave the boys with anybody else.
My dog is 4 and its first time had to consider a boarder. I decided to get to know someone before I needed to use. That way I was happy more importantly the dog got chance to get to know boarder and the person looking after him got to know him.
Poochee Care ticked every box. A meet and greet then a 2-hour visit. After that we decided on an afternoon then as it was a first time with staying, we did a trial stay over. All went well so now it I need to leave my dog we are all happy. I would never and you should never just dump your dog and go. They are like children and Poochee Care understands that. Here’s to a happy future. Thank you!
Alyson is fabulous, we are so lucky to have found such a reliable, lovely lady to help with our dog care. She started out by providing puppy visits which lead into regular weekly walks, really boosting our pups confidence & helping with her development.
Alyson also provided a warm caring home when we went away on holiday, our puppy was just a few months old at the time. We received regular updates & photos to put our mind at ease. Poochee Care is our number 1 choice for home boarding and dog walking.
Alyson is absolutely wonderful. She has been visiting our puppy since she was 4 months old, taking her for walks, playtime & feeding. Poochee Care was our 1st choice to board our pup (now just turned 6 months) while we were away for a week’s holiday at the start of September.
We received constant updates and pictures to put us at ease, our puppy was truly treated like a member of the family, we genuinely think she was a little disappointed to see us when we returned home.
