Dog Boarding,
Pet-Sitting and Dog Walker in South Wales

Providing your dog with one-to-one care in a loving home, not a kennel. A place where your dog is safe and we never wave off an anxious owner.

Whether you are going on holiday, travelling for business, or attending a special occasion, we know that for many people, the thought of spending time away from their pet can bring up all kinds of worry, upset, and even dread.

You may be asking yourself, will my pet get the time, love, and attention they need when I can’t be there? Will they think I have abandoned them?

We understand you are worried that no one else will care for them the way you can. This is why everything we do is based on our understanding of how you feel, and is tailored to what you tell us your pet needs… every small important detail. Especially the ones you think no one will honour in your absence.

Poochee Care is delighted to offer the following services

Who will be caring for my pet?

Alyson Lane

“Hi, I’m Alyson. Since 2018, I have been opening my heart and my front door to only one family’s pet (or pets) at a time. You can rest easy knowing your pet is always my number one priority! They are safe, happy, and loved in my care, whether that’s me visiting you or them visiting me!”

Alyson is experienced, reliable and award-winning, with a host of qualifications to ensure your pets get the highest standard of care (and spoiling). Poocheecare makes your pet the only focus of each stay, walk or sit, and solo care runs through the core of everything we do.

FAQ

We offer dog walks and pet sits in and around Rogerstone, Bassaleg, Rhiwderin, Alt yr ryn, Highcross, Mon bank Gaer, Ridgeway, Bettws, Newport and the surrounding areas.

With dog boarding, because you bring your dog to us, we can look after dogs from any area – we have looked after dogs from Cardiff, Newport, Pontypool, Caerleon, Monmouth, Chepstow, Abergavenny and the surrounding areas.

Solo dog boarding means we only look after your dog or dogs – they do not have to get used to any unfamiliar pets or share any resources, attention or space. They will be able to follow their normal routine without compromise and will be the centre of attention. We believe this provides them with the best possible care and love whilst you are away.

We are not an agency; when you first meet us, you will meet Alyson, and she will always be the one caring for your pet. Please head over to the ‘about’ section to find out more about Alyson.

Our home is in Newport, South Wales – this is where your dog would stay with us in our family home.

We insist on it. We would never board a dog until we can be confident they will love being with us. We meet you and your dog before they stay for a 2-hour trial. This is enough time for us to assess whether they will settle in our home whilst you are away.

Yes! Whether we are walking your dog, visiting your home to look after your cat (or other pets), or looking after your dog in our home, we always organise a meet-up first.

Our customers have told us that seeing how Alyson and your pets interact is reassuring and makes the whole experience easier.

Whether dog walking, pet sitting or dog boarding, we only look after dogs or pets from one family at a time.

This means your pet (or pets) are the centre of attention, not fighting for resources, and can follow their normal routine without compromise.

They do not have to get used to other animals, which reduces any anxiety they may feel about being away from you; they can focus on having a lovely, stress-free time with Alyson instead.

We only offer solo dog walks, meaning we only walk your dog OR dogs from the same household.

The walk takes place from your doorstep and is a 30-minute walk.

We walk your dog straight from your door within their local area and back again; we never use vehicles or crates. This means they find all the familiar smells they usually experience on their walks.

We care for cats, dogs, birds, fish, hamsters, mice, guinea pigs and other small animals. If you have any unusual pets that are not on the list, please contact Alyson. There are not many pets we don’t cater to.

We visit your pet and home for 30 minutes.

Alyson will visit your home and spend time with your pet, following the routine discussed before the visit.

This can include feeding, putting down clean water, cleaning bowls, changing litter trays, administering medication, playing with your pet, letting them out into the garden, watering plants, opening curtains, switching on lights, and picking up the post.

Absolutely! We love sending you WhatsApp pictures, videos and messages so you can see for yourself how your pet is getting on.

Yes, provided they are over 12 weeks old, fully vaccinated, and we have no concerns during the initial visit.

Yes, you will need to sign paperwork giving consent but Alyson is experienced in administering medication. It is your responsibility to provide all the information, i.e., medication, dosage, and timings.

Yes – we expect all the animals we care for to be up to date with their vaccinations.

The terms of our licence for dog boarding means we are not allowed to let any dogs sleep in our bed.

We spend so much time with your dog, and by the time we put them to bed, they will be walked, loved, fed, happy, and ready for a rest. The dogs we care for sleep downstairs, and the area is fully air-conditioned to keep them cool during the summer.

We find the dogs in our care settle really well and we would never leave them feeling upset or distressed. They are like our family when they are in our care, we treat your dog how you would treat them.

Please bring their food, toys, bed, lead, harness, bowls, and anything else you think will help them settle (even clothing with your scent on could be comforting for them).
